The pleated design provides an amplified surface area that may extend the filter's life while removing undesirable particles and chemicals from the water by means of a semipermeable barrier, adsorption, and biological processes. These pleated filters are made of resin-impregnated cellulose and polyester media pleated around a polypropylene core for strength, allowing them to be washed and reused.
