Product Description This Melt-blown Four Layers Filtration Polypropylene Sediment Filter (4 pack) removes physical debris and impurities from your water. The sediment filter has tiny holes through which water can pass, while unwanted particles are trapped. As these particles come in different sizes, the filter sizes are measured in microns - the smaller the micron measurement, the smaller the holes in the filter, allowing it to hold back the smallest of particles.

Generally, for water that is more visibly polluted, containing larger particles, a sediment filter of a larger size (such as 20 or 50 microns) is recommended in the first stage of installation to prevent the clogging of the next stage(s) of filters.

This sediment filter is often the first filter installed in a Reverse Osmosis circuit, acting as a net to catch unwanted particles, including sand, dirt, silt, rust, and other fine particles. Sediment filters are made of fine melted polypropylene, which is then blown and spun into a cylinder-like form. Polypropylene is resistant to chemical solvents, bases, and acids. Removing these particles allows filters, such as Carbon Block or GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) filters, to perform better and for longer periods.

These universal sediment filters are 2.5 x 10-inch and fit most standard under-sink Reverse Osmosis water filtration units or any type of water filtration units with standard 10-inch housing. They can also be used as pre-filters in Whole House Water Systems, Under Counter-top Water Filter Systems, and Counter-top Water Filter Systems to optimize the performance and life span of the carbon or GAC filters.

These cartridges have an extraordinary dirt-holding capacity, with superior contaminant holding capacity and flow rate compared to similar-sized sediment water filter cartridges. They will reduce sediment particles as small as 5 microns without adding taste, odor, or color to your water, making them ideal for all residential, rural, commercial, industrial, and municipal applications.
